Acupuncture is a form of Chinese medicine that has been practiced for millennia. It is based on the theory that energy, called chi, flows through and around your body along pathways called meridians. At Natural Care Chiropractic, acupuncture may be right for you if you need to relieve discomfort associated with a variety of conditions, including chemotherapy, dental pain, Fibromyalgia, headaches, labor pain, low back pain, neck pain, and menstrual cramps.
Acupuncturists believe that illness occurs when something blocks or unbalances your chi. The method of Acupuncture is a way to unblock or influence chi and help it flow back into balance. Acupuncture is done by putting very thin needles into your skin at certain points on your body. This is done to influence the energy flow. Sometimes pressure, or mild electrical current is used along with needles. You may feel a slight pressure when a needle goes in. However, most people find that the acupuncture procedure does not hurt. Dr. Freund and Dr. Gopaul have undergone extensive post-graduate training in Acupuncture.
